Rather than focusing only on sightseeing, the Live Like a Local itinerary combines Georgia’s major cultural landmarks with hands-on experiences. You will bake traditional Georgian bread in Badiauri, make churchkhela and khinkali, visit a farmers market in Telavi, meet traditional qvevri makers, taste Georgian wine, help your host prepare a supra and take part in local craft activities.
The journey begins in Tbilisi before continuing through Kakheti, Georgia’s best-known wine region. You will visit Sighnaghi, Telavi, Tsinandali, Vardisubani and Alaverdi while exploring different parts of Georgian food, wine and family culture.
From Kakheti, the route continues toward the Greater Caucasus through Jinvali, Ananuri, Pasanauri and Gudauri to Kazbegi, also known as Stepantsminda. Here, the cultural journey meets Georgia’s mountain landscape with visits to Dariali Gorge and Gergeti Trinity Church.
On the way back to Tbilisi, you will explore Mtskheta, the ancient capital of Georgia, including Jvari Monastery, Svetitskhoveli Cathedral and Samtavro Monastery.

Your 7-day cultural tour in Georgia begins with arrival at Tbilisi International Airport and transfer to the capital.
After arrival, explore Old Tbilisi on a guided walking tour that introduces you to the city’s history, architecture and cultural heritage. Walking through the historic center is the first step in understanding how different periods and communities have shaped Georgia’s capital.
After the tour, enjoy a traditional Georgian lunch before visiting the Georgian National Museum, where you can discover more about the country’s history and cultural development.
Later, you will have free time in Tbilisi. An optional visit to the city’s traditional sulphur baths can be arranged at your own expense.
The day ends with dinner and an overnight stay in Tbilisi.

After breakfast, leave Tbilisi and travel east toward Kakheti, Georgia’s main wine-growing region.
Your first local experience takes place in Badiauri, where you will join a traditional Georgian bread-baking masterclass. Learn how the bread is prepared and taste it fresh with local cheese and pickles.
Continue to Bodbe Monastery, an important religious site closely connected with St. Nino, before traveling to the hilltop town of Sighnaghi.
After exploring Sighnaghi, take part in a churchkhela-making masterclass. Churchkhela is one of Georgia’s best-known traditional sweets, prepared using nuts and thickened grape juice.
The journey then continues to Telavi, the main city of Kakheti. In the evening, join your local hostess in preparing and setting a Georgian supra — the traditional Georgian feast built around shared food, hospitality and toasts.

Start the morning at the Telavi Farmers Market, where local residents shop for seasonal fruit and vegetables, cheese, spices, churchkhela and other regional products. The market offers a glimpse into everyday food culture in Kakheti beyond wineries and tourist attractions.
Continue to Tsinandali and visit the historic estate associated with the Chavchavadze family. The visit introduces an important part of Georgia’s cultural and winemaking history and includes a scheduled tasting.
Next, travel to Vardisubani to meet traditional qvevri makers. Learn how these large clay vessels are made and how they form part of Georgia’s traditional winemaking culture.
The experience continues with a tasting and lunch with a local family.
Later, visit the Alaverdi area for the included wine and yogurt tasting before returning to Telavi.
The evening concludes with dinner and a traditional Georgian toast experience.

After breakfast, leave Kakheti and begin the journey toward the Greater Caucasus Mountains.
Your first stop is New Shuamta Monastery, located in a forested setting near Telavi.
Continue toward Jinvali Reservoir and visit the historic Ananuri Fortress Complex before following the Georgian Military Highway north.
In Pasanauri, take part in a khinkali-making masterclass. You will learn how Georgia’s famous dumplings are filled, folded and prepared before tasting the result.
The route then climbs toward Gudauri, where you will stop at the panorama for views across the surrounding Caucasus landscape.
Continue to Kazbegi, officially Stepantsminda, for dinner and an overnight stay.

Today you will explore the landscapes and local traditions of the Kazbegi region.
Travel through Dariali Gorge in the northern part of the region before visiting Gergeti Trinity Church, one of Georgia’s most recognizable mountain landmarks.
Located high above Stepantsminda, the church offers broad views across the surrounding Caucasus mountains, with Mount Kazbek visible when weather conditions are clear.
The cultural part of the day continues with a felt-making masterclass and a tasting of locally produced jams. The experience provides another opportunity to learn about traditional skills and products associated with Georgia’s mountain communities.
The rest of the evening is free before dinner at the guesthouse.

After breakfast, leave Kazbegi and travel south toward Mtskheta, the ancient capital of Georgia and one of the country’s most important historical and religious centers.
Visit Jvari Monastery, overlooking the confluence of the Aragvi and Mtkvari rivers, and continue to Svetitskhoveli Cathedral in the historic center of Mtskheta.
After a traditional Georgian lunch, visit Samtavro Monastery. Jvari, Svetitskhoveli and Samtavro together form the Historical Monuments of Mtskheta UNESCO World Heritage Site.
After exploring Mtskheta, return to Tbilisi for the final night of the tour.
