This 7-day Georgia tour from Tbilisi combines historic cities, Georgian wine, the high mountains of Svaneti and the green canyons of Samegrelo in one journey across eastern and western Georgia.
The itinerary starts in Tbilisi, where you will explore the historic Old Town, walk through some of the capital’s best-known landmarks and finish your first day with a traditional Georgian dinner accompanied by folk music and dance.
From Tbilisi, travel to Mtskheta, Georgia’s ancient capital, to visit Jvari Monastery and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral before continuing west for a family-run vineyard experience at Baia’s Wine. Here, the journey shifts from monumental history to Georgian wine, local food and family hospitality.
The second half of the tour is centered on Svaneti, one of the most distinctive mountain regions in the Caucasus. After visiting the Enguri Dam, continue to Mestia and explore the landscapes of Upper Svaneti, known for its medieval villages, defensive stone towers and dramatic mountain setting.
A 4WD journey takes you from Mestia to Ushguli, where traditional Svan settlements stand beneath the high peaks of the Greater Caucasus. You will also visit Lamaria Church and enjoy a homemade lunch with a local family.
Weather permitting, another 4WD experience takes you to the Koruldi Lakes above Mestia, with wide views over the surrounding mountains. If mountain conditions do not allow access to Koruldi, the experience is replaced with a ride on the Hatsvali Cable Car.
Before returning to Tbilisi, the route continues through Samegrelo to Martvili Canyon, where forest, limestone cliffs and the Abasha River create a completely different landscape from the high Caucasus.

Your 7-day Georgia tour from Tbilisi begins with a private transfer from Tbilisi International Airport to your hotel. You will have time to check in and rest before the sightseeing program begins.
Explore Old Tbilisi on foot with your guide, beginning around Metekhi and the historic neighborhoods that developed along the Mtkvari River. Along the way, learn about the foundation of Tbilisi and the different cultures and architectural periods that shaped the capital.
The walking route includes Europe Square, Rike Park, the Bridge of Peace, the Clock Tower, Anchiskhati Basilica and Shardeni Street.
Continue toward the Mother of Georgia monument and explore the old city around the sulphur bath district, including the Bridge of Love and the colorful façade of Chreli Abano.
During the Tbilisi program, the included experiences also feature a cable car ride and two wine tastings.

Continue into Mtskheta, the ancient capital of Georgia, to visit Svetitskhoveli Cathedral. Together with Jvari and other historic monuments of Mtskheta, the area represents one of Georgia’s most important centers of medieval architecture and Christian heritage.
After exploring Mtskheta, travel west toward Baia’s Wine for a more personal introduction to Georgian wine culture.

Today the journey moves from the lowlands of western Georgia toward the high mountains of Svaneti.
Stop at the Enguri Hydropower Dam, an enormous arch dam built in the narrow Enguri River canyon. At 271.5 meters high, it is one of the highest arch dams in the world and an important example of Georgia’s industrial heritage.
From Enguri, continue deeper into Upper Svaneti as the road follows mountain valleys toward Mestia.
After arriving in Mestia, check in and take some time to rest before visiting Heshkili Huts, known for their mountain setting and panoramic views over the surrounding landscape.
Later, enjoy dinner at a local restaurant and spend the evening in Mestia, surrounded by the peaks and traditional stone towers that characterize Svaneti.

Travel by 4WD from Mestia to Ushguli, passing through one of the most dramatic mountain landscapes on the itinerary.
Located at around 2,200 meters above sea level, Ushguli is one of Europe’s highest mountain settlements. The community is famous for its traditional Svan towers, stone houses and extraordinary location beneath the peaks of the Greater Caucasus.
Part of the Ushguli community forms part of the UNESCO-listed Upper Svaneti cultural landscape, where medieval settlement patterns and defensive tower houses have survived to an exceptional degree.
Explore the settlement and visit Lamaria Church, one of Ushguli’s important religious landmarks.
During the day, enjoy a homemade lunch with a local family, giving you the opportunity to taste food from the Svaneti region as part of the mountain experience.
Return by 4WD to Mestia in the afternoon.

Before leaving Svaneti, travel by 4WD toward the Koruldi Lakes, located high above Mestia.
The mountain road climbs through open terrain to an alpine viewpoint where the small lakes sit against the backdrop of some of Svaneti’s most recognizable peaks. In clear weather, the journey provides wide views across the Greater Caucasus and the valleys surrounding Mestia.
Access to Koruldi is strongly dependent on mountain and weather conditions. If the road is not suitable for the 4WD journey, the Koruldi Lakes visit will be replaced with a ride on the Hatsvali Cable Car, offering another elevated perspective over Mestia and the surrounding mountains.
After the mountain experience, begin the long drive back toward western Georgia and continue to Kutaisi.

After the high mountains of Svaneti, today introduces a completely different landscape in Samegrelo.
Visit Martvili Canyon, a natural monument shaped by the Abasha River and surrounded by dense Colchic vegetation, limestone cliffs and waterfalls.
Walk along the visitor trail and viewing areas inside the canyon. When weather and river conditions permit, the visit also includes a boat trip along the Abasha River between the canyon walls.
The boat service is weather-dependent and may be suspended during or after heavy rainfall for safety reasons.
During the day, enjoy another homemade lunch in the Martvili area before starting the journey back east.
Return to Tbilisi for the final night of your tour.
