Our guide David arrived 10 minutes earlier and texted us that he is in front of the house: it was great to know from a start that he is reliable, professional and easy to talk to. It was a real pleasure to travel with David: he is knowledgeable about the places we visited on the tour, but more importantly, he is a really interesting person. We have learned a lot about him and about modern Georgia. He recommended some good shopping spots, panorama views and points for taking pictures. We like the best our small stop to eat mullberries 🙂
The tour is long. Long. It takes many hours to get to Vardzia, but the trip is not boring.
The landscapes are stunning, and David is really good in communicating with people.
Vardzia is a great site. The climb is not very complicated. There are stairs and railings for support, but make sure to bring water, sunscreen and a hat.
Rabati is an amzing place and you‘ll probably want to spend extra time there: very calming, photogenic and elegant. At the end of the trip, you‘ll probably appreciate cool air of Borjomi – just sit in the park and chill.

Magical mystery tour into Georgia`s wild landscape. As an revelation the ancient cave town Vardzia stood in front of me, and it was fantastic to explore this amazaing wonder. Top guiding by David in Gamarjoba Georgia Tours. He knew the history and site well, and took us to the most interesting places. I will highliy recommend this tour operator and tour guide.

We enjoyed trip very much with gamarjoba it was exciting trip with the tour guide nika and driver. I learned Georgian language because of him who helped me to increase knowledge of history of Vardzia. We went through cave town in vardzia in which we found tunnel to go down and also suggested us place to visit. The driver was also calm. And car was clean and well maintained. Even we enjoyed in Rabita with him. We saw mountains, hills, terain and visited shop. Rabita was famous for 4 dogs which were playing with us. My trip was full of experience and adventure

My first tour with Gamarjoba Georgia to Kazbegi was absolutely brilliant so I decided to pop in to the office and ask about other options. This company is superb. They took the time to sit down with me (with wine!) and sort out a plan. I was really keen to go to Bakuriani for some skiing but also wanted to see Vardzia and Rabati so we decided I could take the Vardzia day trip and after they would leave me in Borjomi. Of course they went above and beyond, and made sure I was safely deposited in a taxi from Borjomi to Bakuriani.
The guide for the day was Tornike (aka Toko); A true gentleman and scholar, and yet another example of the quality guides Gamarjoba employs. Toko speaks six languages fluently (including Mandarin and Italian!). The quality and depth of conversation in the car with Toko, along with the other guest, was wide ranging and felt rather surreal as we motored through the gorgeous winter Georgian countryside.
Our lovely young driver Misha safely negotiated the tricky icy roads in his beautiful clean Prius. The drive to Vardzia is quite long however listening to Misha and Toko sing and natter away made the kilometres fly.
Vardzia is beyond words. It must be seen to be believed. And hopefully you will be lucky enough to have Toko and Misha as your companions, but if not, fear not! Gamarjoba Georgia will look after you.
