The Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (literally the Cathedral of the Living Pillar) is currently the second-largest church building in Georgia after the Holy Trinity cathedral. Known as the burial site of Christ's mantle, Svetitskhoveli is one of the region's most venerated places of worship. On the way to Bodbe, we stop at the viewpoint of Sighnaghi and take amazing pictures. Bodbe Nunnery of St. Nino is located in Kakheti, 2 kilometers away from Sighnaghi. According to the legend, it is built on the burial place of Saint Nino. A saint for Georgians who converted their religion to Christianity. Georgian kings were paying great attention to the Bodbe Monastery. The fortress remained in use until the beginning of the 19th century. In 2007, the complex was on the tentative list for inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage Site program. Located on the Georgian Military Highway between the ski resort town of Gudauri and the Jvari Pass, the monument is a large round stone arch and concrete structure overlooking the Devil's Valley in the Caucasus mountains. Gudauri is a ski resort located in the heart of the Caucasus Mountains. It belongs to the Stepantsminda district (2,200 meters above sea level), with a skiing area enjoying maximum exposure to the sun. The church's location is on the right bank of the Chkheri river under Kazbegi Mountain, 2170 meters above sea level. Gergeti Trinity Church was built in the 14th century, and this is the only cross-cupola church in Khevi province. In times of danger, precious relics from Mtskheta, including Saint Nino’s Cross, were brought here for safekeeping. Mgvimevi features cloisters hewn from rock, dressed with icons, and lit by beeswax candles. There are beautiful stone engravings, a glass box displaying three human skulls and other relics, and a small chapel with beautiful frescoes and a wooden iconoclast. Outside, a lookout point gives you a view of the church hugging the cliff face. 13:45 Lunch in Chiatura Duration: 1 hour and 15 minutes After Mgvimevi Convent, we will go to a local place where we will have a delicious lunch. 15:30 Katskhi Column Duration: 1 hour The great church where daring monks climb closer to God. Katskhi Column (Katskhi Pillar) is a more than 40-meter-tall limestone pillar with an Orthodox monastery perched on top, built in the 6th to 8th centuries. The Katskhi complex is unique, with a magical experience. Each day, monks living below make the nerve-jangling 20-minute ascent via a thin metal ladder bolted to the side of the rock. 17:00 Cable Car in Chiatura Duration: 1 hour If you are interested in Soviet history and architecture, Chiatura is waiting for you. Known for its extensive network of Soviet-era cable cars, it is a favorite destination in Georgia for urbexers and photographers. Visit ghosts of the past in the Cable Car City of Georgia. The story of Chiatura starts with manganese; a mineral used to manufacture iron and steel. Soviet-style apartment blocks dominate Chiatura.
